Bio
Jeannette Marie (Opaskar) Chechile (1944-) is an accomplished pianist, composer, and teacher. She holds a BA and MA in Education (Saint John College; Kent State University), and a MA in Music (Tufts University). During her graduate music studies at Tufts, Jeannette worked with composer T.J. Anderson. She currently remains an active participant in the Tufts composers music community, working with John McDonald and collaborating with many local artists and performers.
During her career in education, Jeannette taught six years in Cleveland, OH, San Jose, CA, Yokohama, Japan, and Pittsburgh, PA. After relocating to Massachusetts in 1973, she taught piano and preschool in Medford and elementary school in Lexington before retiring in 2010.
Since retirement, Jeannette expanded her creative output through painting, and tap dance, and she continues to compose and perform music. In 2014 a selection of her compositions was recorded and released on Elizabeth Erenberg’s album Ascend.
